Portfolio expansion, technology to drive TGI growth

Miami-based tire distributor Tire Group International said the tire business in 2025 has been stable so far.

For the rest of the year, the company is adding a distribution center, in Florida, and expanding its brands portfolio, in addition to its propriety Cosmo and Astro brands.

Recently TGI become the authorized distributor for Yokohama Tire Corp.’s Yokohama-branded tires in Florida, Oregon and Washington, and the authorized distributor of Sumitomo Rubber North America’s Falken tires in Florida.

TGI President Joaquin González shared his observations of market conditions with Tire Business.

How would you describe business thus far in 2025, compared with last year?

Business in 2025 has remained stable overall, with certain regions showing stronger performance than others. Compared to last year, we’re seeing a more cautious buying environment driven by ongoing economic uncertainties, yet solid demand in key categories continues to support our growth trajectory.

What segments have been strong, and what has been sluggish?

Passenger and light truck tire segments have performed well. Conversely, the medium commercial segment has been more sluggish due to softer demand and elevated inventory levels in the channel. Specialty tires, including OTR and agricultural, have shown selective strength depending on regional demand.
